Several years ago my family lived in an old historic two story home in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. I had a strange feeling that the house was haunted ever since moving into the home. The home neighborhood was a prominent place to live back around the 1930's as it was home to doctors, lawyers, and other wealthy business men.
One night my worst fears were confirmed. Our bedrooms were located upstairs and the floors upstairs were hardwood. The children were small at the time and I had them sharing a room upstairs next to mine. My husband had decided to stay up late and was watching television downstairs on the livingroom sofa. I began to hear footsteps walking up the hardwood floor steps and then as they got high enough up the stairs for one to reach the upstairs floor I begun to hear someone tapping their fingers repeatedly on the floor.
Needless to say, I was a bit frightened so I yelled down to my husband thinking that he was playing a joke on me. He answered that he was still watching television on the couch and by his voice level I could tell that he was telling the truth. While he had been answering I could still hear the fingers tapping. At this point, I asked him, "Did you hear something." His reply was, "Yes, I thought that I heard you coming down the stairs. Fright rushed through my body and I screamed for him to come up to bed immediately. When he got upstairs I told him the story and neither of us could get much sleep that night.
That night is when I became interested in the paranormal. Prior to the event I was skeptical that ghosts exsisted. That night changed my life and the lives of my family and it will never be the same.
Through the years I have done countless hours of research on the paranormal world and the truth is amazing. I stepped out in the field as lead investigator for G.H.O.U.L.I. in August 2001. G.H.O.U.L.I. was founded by Tonya Lewis and is based in Oklahoma City. Our most recent investigation involved an abandoned indian boarding school located in a suburb of Oklahoma City. The investigation produced an abundance of paranormal activity and our team was intriqued by our findings.
Do you ever get the same eery feeling that I did several years back when my family resided in a haunted house? There are several signs to look for when you suspect a haunting.
Here is a short list of some common events that happen in a haunted house:

Seeing shadows move around

Hearing footsteps in a vacant room

Missing keys or other small objects

Lights, televisions, radios etc. being turned on when off, or vice-versa

Household animals staring intensely at nothing or acting unusual

Doors and windows being locked or unlocked, shut or opened

Being touched when noone is present

Often active hauntings have distinctive smells associated with them

Areas in the building that have noticably colder spots.

After reviewing the signs keep a log of the occurances in your home. The log is a useful step in confirming the possible haunting. Professional confirmations are a choice if you feel the need exists.
